Summer 2018: “Where’s Peanut?” Edition
Here’s the thing: I was there. I was probably two feet away, supervising, because that’s what I do. But did anyone think to put me in the photo? Nooo. Instead, all the glory went to Cruise, Leon’s dog, who's temporarily living with us while Leon's off doing his brave-human thing in Afghanistan.
Don’t get me wrong, Cruise is a nice guy. He’s all sweet eyes and polite tail wags. I liked him well enough—he’s not the kind to steal my treats or hog my pillow. But come on, Joel is giving him my spot on the couch! That’s the Peanut throne! I hope they at least gave me extra snacks to make up for this injustice.
And Chewy… oh, Chewy. Look at him on the other chair, all royal and relaxed, crossing his paws like he’s posing for a magazine. That’s classic Chewy—part tough guy, part king of the world. He doesn't care about photos; he cares about keeping everyone safe. If you zoom in, you can practically see him thinking, “Don’t worry, I’m watching the door while you all cuddle.”
So, while Joel and Cruise were having their snuggle moment and Chewy was holding down his fortress, I was probably off keeping the balance—maybe sunning myself in the window, or inspecting the kitchen floor for crumbs.
This picture may not show me, but trust me, I was there. I’ve always been there—quietly making sure the house feels like home. I guess that’s my style: let the big dogs take the spotlight while I make sure everything’s running smoothly behind the scenes.
