It’s a tough job being this adorable, but someone has to do it.
Another day of royal duties and garden patrol! I, Peanut, the undisputed Prince of Evanston Avenue, have much to report.
First of all, Emma is sad and keeps thinking about Chewy. I miss that grumpy old guy, too. He used to bark at me if I even looked at his favorite spot, but he also made sure everyone stayed on schedule. Especially bedtime. I guess now I’m in charge of that, but let me tell you—I’m way more polite about it. I might nudge her gently, but I don’t bark orders. Class, darling. It’s all about class.
Today, I supervised two walks. On one of them, I had to endure the indignity of being near dirt because she wanted to do gardening. Ugh. Dirt. Mud. Not my thing. But I stood there, looking fabulous, while she dug around like a happy mole. Someone has to keep her company, and no one does it better than me.
The rest of the day, she was buzzing around—cleaning the house, packing for the Kentucky trip, and doing mysterious human errands at Walmart. I stayed home like a good boy. No accidents in the house, of course. I’ve got my reputation to maintain.
She’s excited about the trip with Joel. I’m going to Becky’s house while they’re gone. Becky spoils me (as she should), but I’m making a list of snacks and pillows I expect to have while I’m there.
Emma said she misses Chewy barking at her when she moved too slowly. I think she misses having someone boss her around. Don’t look at me, though—I’m more of a gentle nudge-and-gaze type of leader. Still, I’ll make sure she keeps some kind of schedule… even if it’s just time for cuddles.
Tonight, she’s watching Orange Is the New Black. I’ll be here, curled up like the perfect prince I am, keeping her company. It’s a tough job being this adorable, but someone has to do it.
