Peanut’s Perspective: July 8
This morning, Emma woke up early and didn’t seem happy. She looked at her glowing rectangle thing (she calls it a “phone”), and I could tell from her face that something upsetting was on it. She said something about a “nasty message” and rubbed her belly like it hurt. I curled up close to her. I always know when she needs extra love.
But let’s talk about the good part—yesterday! Oh, I had a grand day. Becky came and picked me up, and Brutus and I ran out into the backyard like soldiers heading to the front lines—shoulder to shoulder, ears up, tails alert. So many smells! We did perimeter checks, peed in new spots, and then ran back to Becky like heroes. I always made sure to pee after Brutus so he would remember be when I got home. When we were tired, we both curled up on Becky's knee. I always let Brutus jump up first, because I know I’m her favorite anyway. (Don't tell him that.)
We are lucky to have her. She loves us so well.
Now I’m back home, lying close to Emma while she writes. I can tell her heart feels heavy, but I also know she’s strong. She’s got love all around her—even if she forgets sometimes.
And she’s got me.
