stuck as an online school teaching assistant
Life has been stressful. Here I am, Peanut, the fabulous Chihuahua-Dachshund mix from sunny California, slumming it here in Indiana.
I’ve had my two walks a day, yes, and I’ve gotten my food, but peace? Not a chance. Emma and I are back at work, and I’m stuck as an online school teaching assistant—thrilling, isn’t it?
“Wake up, Peanut!” she says, as if I’m not already the star of this show. Time to get on the screen and see the students. I do what I’m told, but I make it crystal clear I’m not enjoying myself. The kids scream my name—yes, I like it! But I want to show myself on my own terms. I’m not a circus animal or a prize pony, thank you very much!
No peace at the park either. Every afternoon, when I venture out, we’re chased by hordes of children, egged on by a man on a bike. Emma says it’s the Christ the King Cross Country team. What’s that? Oh, just a delightful way to ruin my peaceful stroll.
I love to sleep and sit on warm laps, especially when the weather is nice and I can enjoy some pampering. But here I am, adjusting to this chaos. It’s a tough adjustment, but adjust I will. I’ll write more next week when, hopefully, I won’t have to work as much and can reclaim my royal nap time!
